A Canadian Man Has a Global Ambition to Create 5 Million Habitats for Endangered Species!
The World Wildlife Fund estimates that our planet has lost half of its wildlife in the past 40 years. It feels like we’re bombarded almost daily by the tragic news about what we are doing to the natural environment.
William (Billy) Reilly is a 30-year serial entrepreneur originally hailing from beautiful Niagara Falls, Canada and is on a mission to change things for the better.
Through Pop-Up Garden wildlife habitats for birds, bees and butterflies, Pop-Up Garden gives people the chance to encourage wildlife back to their gardens, balconies and especially into their lives.
Billy moved from Canada to the UK over 12 years ago after enjoying a successful ice hockey and coaching career as well as achieving his Shotokan karate black belt at the University of Toronto.
In the UK, Billy set-up a green construction recycling business called the Green Grinder for large new build construction sites in London. It was at these inner city sites that Billy became aware of the lack of indigenous wildlife habitats in urban environments. As a result, he decided to come up with solutions that would be suitable for most homes, even where space is limited to a tiny balcony or a small yard.
Like many Canadians, Billy has had a passion for protecting the natural environment from a very early age. This passion combined with his great interest in design, has resulted in the creation of The Pop-Up Garden.
Ice hockey, karate and coaching have taught him many things such as discipline, determination, and a can-do attitude and a desire to succeed. But above all, it has taught him the value of teamwork and the idea that collectively we can make a difference and achieve almost anything, even when faced with overwhelming odds.
Billy’s ethos was to not only offer great products, but “products with a conscience”. Pop-Up Garden has teamed up with the International wildlife charity Buglife who will receive a wholesale royalty from all Pop-Up Garden products sold to support Buglife’s efforts To Save The Planet.
Through the Pop-Up Garden enterprise, Billy is bringing a fresh/hip new approach to nature by adding style and function to the design of much needed habitats.
