A. Yes! We have point of sale available for all products – contact us for more information.
Q. Does the smell of your plastic box construction turn off birds from nesting inside the boxes?
A. While most birds seem to lack much power of smell, there are some groups of birds that can locate food using their olfactory glands. Extensive research into bird senses has shown vultures, seabirds, kiwis and parrots have well-developed olfactory glands, giving them some sense of small and taste.

All Pop-Up Garden materials (corrugated plastic) have undergone extensive chemical analysis and testing for the detection of hazardous materials such as cadmium, lead, mercury etc in which all have shown a result of No Detection. These materials comply with the REACH Testing protocol.

Q. I’m worried that some of your Pop-Up Garden products such as your bright Designer Bird House Series might frighten off some or most birds. Is this true?
A. Different birds are attracted to different colours. Individual bird species may see the “best” colours as indicating a food source, or they may be more attracted to the colours of their own plumage as those could indicate a potential mate or another bird that is surviving well.
Diumal birds that are active during the day have the best colour sense. Perceiving different colours is less crucial for nocturnal birds, and many birds that are most active at night have a greater number of rod cells in their eyes instead, which allows them to capture more light and see better in low light condition, though they may not see colours as clearly.
Most bright colours, however, can be used to attract birds, with certain bird species being attracted to particular shades.
• Red and Pink – Hummingbirds
• Orange – Orioles, hummingbirds
• Yellow – Goldfinches, warblers, hummingbirds
• Blue: Bluebirds, jays.
Camouflage colours such as grey, browns and dull green are excellent colours to attract birds with a more nervous temperament, such as doves, quail and other ground feeders, because these colours represent security and safety.
Q. I see that your Pop-Up Garden habitats are made of channeled plastic, will this plastic keep the birds and chicks warm, will they overheat and will they keep dry?
A. All Pop-up Garden products are constructed of PP, No5 corrugated 4.0mm thick plastic sheeting which is 100% recyclable. Due to the hollow structure of the PP corrugated board, this material is a better sound dampener and preserves heat better than other solid board materials. Other features include waterproof, damp proof, anti-erosion and anti-static properties. PP corrugated board also allows for easy annual cleaning with traditional soaps.
The tongue & groove construction of Pop-Up Garden habitat products and bottom drainage holes provide for the free flow of air through the habitat and all corners are soft and rounded.
It is vital for the proper placement of your habitat on your balcony or garden.
Q. I just bought one of your Pop-Up Garden birdhouses and where should I place it?
A. We suggest you go on-line and/or call your local or national bird conservation authority or charity for placement guidance for the species you are trying to attract.
Some keys guidelines are predator, wind and sun protection and making sure there is clear access to the habitat.
Q. I see that your Pop-Up habitats come with mounting screws and cable ties. Can I screw my Bee Hotel to a tree?
A. It is recommended you use the included cable ties for mounting to trees since the screw might affect the tree. This can also be overcome buy inserting a plastic screw plug first into the drilled hole to protect the tree. We also recommend using the cable tie for attaching to poles and balconies.
The included washer and screw set are recommended for placing on wooden fences, siding, poles etc.
Q. Your habitats are made of plastic, I concerned that squirrels will chew away at he plastic to get inside the box.
A. Squirrels will be able to chew away at the plastic the same as they wood chew away at a wooden box. They have been also been know to go through wooden gable ends of houses, through vinyl siding and external render walls.
There are suggestions of using hot chilli sprays (home made or retail) on outside habitats to repel the squirrels but this process must be repeated after each rain.
Your habitat box placement is crucial and you might want to consider mounting on a circular pole with a cat/squirrel guard, non-climbing surfaces such as smooth bricks or a raised balcony.
